Description

Solar Orbiter is a unique Heliophysics mission in several senses: it travels on its own trajectory around the Sun, often far from Earth; that trajectory is now increasingly inclined to the ecliptic; and it has a highly coordinated planning process between its payload of remote-sensing and in-situ instruments that necessarily starts more than a year before execution. The coordination of those observations has to result in coordinated datasets freely available to the science community. In addition the science team orchestrates coordination with other facilities on – or in orbit around – the Earth. All these aspects lead to unique solutions both within the Science Operations Centre and with the wider science community. In this talk, we’ll cover some of those solutions and how the mission continues to evolve.
